The Sixth Sense of Being Watched

Nobody has ever been able to explain this phenomenon. The sense of being watched is without scientific explanation, but almost every individual would swear to it. The more highly trained a professional is, the more acute it seems. Patrick had looked around several times, without appearing to look around. He put his rifle over his shoulder and moved off into the woods parallel to the opening in the field. After having moved roughly 50 yards, he went to ground, disappearing from the view of any watcher.

Then, moving as only a trained sniper can, he crawled at a snail’s pace in a wide semi-circle away from the opening and back around the place he had been eating. In this way he would out-flank any watcher. He wasn’t confident of seeing anyone, if in fact anyone was there, but he gave himself a good chance of crossing any trail or sign that might have been left. Two-thirds of the way around his half-circle he found footprints that brought fear to his heart like no other could.

They weren’t human. They were feline. Jaguar.
